²³ This is what the Lord says:

Daniel Interprets the Dream

²⁴ Then Daniel went to Arioch,^(A) whom the king had appointed to execute the wise men of Babylon, and said to him, “Do not execute the wise men of Babylon. Take me to the king, and I will interpret his dream for him.”

⁹ Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.^(A)

⁴⁹ Because of this, God in his wisdom^(A) said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’^(B)

⁹ He has saved^(A) us and called^(B) us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done^(C) but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

³⁰ If I must boast, I will boast^(A) of the things that show my weakness.^(B)
